Five die, one injured in flaming pickup crash

FORT WORTH -- A pickup carrying five people left the road in the 1500 block of East Northside Drive and struck a tree after midnight Monday, Aug. 5, killing everyone inside.

They died when the pickup exploded into flames after crashing into the tree, news reports indicated.

A homeless man living in a tent nearby was also badly burned and hospitalized in Parkland Hospital in Dallas, authorities said.

Police said an investigation into the crash has yet to determine why the pickup left the road at the early hour.
