Heavy Rains and Flooding to Blame in Vehicle Fatality on I-45
On the night of May 23, 2021, widespread heavy rainfall caused flooding that led to a vehicle being submerged with a family inside on the Interstate 45 service road. The vehicle stalled as it entered the flooded roadway. The family inside the vehicle was able to escape to the roof of their vehicle and later rescued by firefighters. However, another vehicle nearby was not as fortunate and was submerged and being swept away. Emergency responders elisted the help of a drone and water rescue team to locate and rescue the driver of that vehicle. Unfortunately, the 67-year-old man lost his life inside his flooded vehicle.
